    H&R guarantee?

Seems my H&Rs had sagged slightly on the drivers side rear and/or drivers side front. No obvious handling issues but it doesnt sit right on a flat surface and its finally annoying me

Suprised this has happened, they have been on the car for about 3yrs but mileage wise they have done something like 15k miles max.

Anyone know who is stocking them as i want to get it sorted but also what kind of guarantee h&r have?

    Cheers

this is a bit worrying! I thought H&R were the best of the bunch

Makes me wonder if my rear springs are sagging too, the rear end seems to sit about 10mm too low

one side of mine at the rear is a good 10mm lower than the other but I do think this was the case before I put the springs on. Some cars do just sit like this??!!

hmmm cant say for certain mine wasn't before I put the h&r's on but i'm pretty sure it wasn't. Might have to take them off and see if they are only different when compressed or if the sag is evident even uncompressed

          ?

Get the car corner weighed with a full tank of fuel and one bod in the drivers seat, bet you the measurements are different from one side to t'other.

Would you not have to change to avant struts on the rear? the same as the 80 salon?

hmmm see that was my thinking as the back end of the coupe is essentially the same as the front minus the connections for the tie-rod ends for the steering IIRC

Ooooops, didn't mean it that way...

Maybe its time yawl S2 owners did some measuring and compared results, eg centre of hub to edge of wheel arch?

Nope, RS2 / Avant rear stuff is completely different to the coupe and saloon. I looked into this back in the summer before my money went into bricks and mortar.

H&R RS2 front springs on front and rear, no messing about required as the front and rear struts are nearly identical. From memory S2_Ant had standard front H&Rs front and rear and H&R offer this as an alternative to the progressive rate rears. Also, having measured the front and rear standard S2 springs and making a few assumptions about material and temper, the rears are stiffer than the front by approx. 5% so front and rear springs are close (I must stress that this is theory and not a true measurement of the spring rate).

My thinking was that with front RS2 springs front and rear, any understeer caused by the relatively softer rear springs can be dialed out. However, these are what S2Avant has on his car and they are STIFF, he's experienced some interesting handling charactistics with a car this stiff . There's more complnce in the tyres on the 18s than the springs

I spoke to Pete at QC about sourcing front RS2 springs and he was able to from his supplier. Also cost approx 50% more than the standard stuff due to rarity.
