  • Adjustable Steering Column

Anyone ever heard of a retrofit of the adjustable steering from the urS6 to the RS2. At 194cm/ 6ft5 I can set up the steering in my urS6 so that I can get my knees under the wheel. No way in my RS2!

What about a spacer just to bring the wheel closer to me?

That sounds like major surgery on an S2/RS2 column. Tis one advantage the S6 has alright for big and tall folk like yourself. Have you got the seat as low as it can go ?

Maybe the brackets for the seat can be modified to bring the seat closer to the floor. Thats a common trick for rally car co-drivers actually. Lower CoG and all that.

I think using a S6 coloumn would be way to much work they certainly look very different. I think you might struggle with this mod. It doesnt even look like the 2000 Cabriolet had an adjustable coloumn which would have been your best bet

          REALLY ?

Was that an option on later S2 Avants or did he retrofit from an A6 ?

I'd send him a PM, but he'd probably tell me it is a secret

That is great - I actually want my wheel to sit an inch or two lower - its the only niggle about the driving position on the S2 I have but I'm a bit of shortarse it must be said.

            Adjustable Steering Wheel

In the urS6 and the RS2 I have the seats as low as they can go but I do like to sit close, with a decent bend in my clutch leg when it is fully extended.
With the S6 I can touch my knees under the wheel and sort of toe-heel. With size 11shoes it's fun

With the RS2 it is a LOT smaller...I can barely get my right hand past my knee when turning the wheel - let alone move my knees anywhere! Also the gap between the clutch pedal and the tunnel is a LOT narrower with a result my size 11 doesn't get to the foot rest

Because of this I was considering selling...only kidding:mischeif:

Anyways...having the wheel closer to me would be a great improvement...

I can make it removable at the same time, for some "pocket money"

I have fitted the urS6 adjustable column in my UR but it involves cutting the bracket at the top on the column and rewelding in order to straighten it. (The A6 columns are angled while the UR's is straight) Other than that, and a modification to the top support it fitted fine.
