    AUDI RS2 Suspension Upgrades

I have just got a RHD RS2, high miles but cheap enough to spend some money on and the banging and craching from the current suspension is a good place to start. The car will get mods to brakes and engine in time so that I can track it but it has to be sensible for road use.

I believe there are a couple of types of Konis, usually fitted with lowering springs, and I know there are various coil over kits on the market. What does anyone suggest?

Has anyone fitted a rear strut brace to the RS2? I was considering a custom one built into a half roll cage (removeable) to provide harness mounts for on the track.

Recommend Koni shocks, H&R springs and a 19mm neuspeed S4 rear anti roll bar.

You could also use Bilsteins if it's going to be more track than road use but personally like the comfort of Koni's.

I think the rolls royce solution for the RS2 is fitting KW Competition 2-Way adjustable competition coilover shocks all round. These are (i'm told) fully adjustable for bump & rebound damping with the shocks still on the car. Also fully height adjustable as usual with coilovers.

The Bilstein PSS9, KW Variant 3 and uber cool Mance CCK solutions just aren't available for the B4 chassis. Otherwise, I suggest as others have in going the upgraded insert route +/- uprated spring.

Spring rate's can be selected through discussions with the engineers at KW in Germany.
I've been speaking with them as I would like a fully re-freshed setup that can be adjusted to work well on the odd track day and easily tweaked again to keep my elderly in-laws happy when running them about....

"The double-adjustable KW competition racing suspension systems are primarily designed for use in most motorsport, such as slalom events, hill climbs, road rallies, longdistance races and driver training on the legendary nordschleife, the northern loop of the Nürburgring. They are notable for their outstanding price/performance ratio and their ease of use. In addition to the complete solutions listed below, we also produce customer-specific racing suspension systems. For production car motor sport and for the driver with sporting ambitions we also offer these motorracing solutions with a TÜV certificate, or supply the appropriate certification for individual approval.
The suspension systems are classified according to the purpose for which they are to be used, and are listed under „Circuit“ or „Rally“ in the application list. The racing suspensions designed for „Circuit „ enable the vehicle to be lowered by 50-100 mm, and cannot under any circumstances be used for racing cars that permit only a standard height or minimal lowering. These suspension systems are designed to be used for slaloms, hill climbs, cuit-racing events and long-distance races, but also for racing driver training and tourist drives on the northern loop of the Nürburgring. The suspension systems listed as „Rally“ are designed for an adjustment range around the standard vehicle height (+/- 25 mm) and can be used for both Group N cars and rally cars, (please note: these shocks are not designed to run an hard gravel stages)."

No idea, but I think I've read about people with Audi's magnetic suspension on RS246 who have changed for good coilovers... No pleasing some folks eh?

Time will tell how far I go with mods. my mechanic is stripping the front end off today to sort a few basics and we are doing some essentials to guarantee the basic boost is available: silicone hoses and a a new Turbosmart dual port DV. Then it is the tired suspension, I think the Koni/H&R solution with HD top mounts will get the nod as I live on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border and the roads are S***E. Then sort out a few shabby bits of bodywork to make it look as good as in all those articles! Front seats may be exchanged for Recaro Pole positions which come with blue alcantera inserts, plus harnesses back to the new rear brace/roll cage. A fresh set of wheels with track day rubber. Then time to hit the track!

Anyone got any more ideas? where can I get a short shift kit?

Did you ever go ahead with this set up? I'm interested in doing likewise and would be interested to know your thoughts.

No, I went for Bilstein sport dampers and RS2 H&R springs. Poly bushed all round and Pro-Mount top mounts. Plus a non oem geometry setup. Works well for me.

Cheers for the quick reply. I've heard good things about the Bilsteins but believe they are not a direct fit? How did you get around this/who did the work to fit them?
