How do you get the damn thing out????? I have bought a 3mm x 19mm socket but it's in so tight i can't shift it and am starting to chew the head of the screw.

Undo the pipe just above it (i think its a 13mm ), you should then have enough flex to get the X-plug out. Be careful as its spring loaded tho. U might also have to use hammer and flathead screwdriver if you cant undo old X-plug.

I've found it almost impossible to do without an impact with a drag link socket. This makes easy work of X-plug removal.

Here's a pic of the socket.

You might have to chamfer the corners of the drag link socket blade (like a large screw driver socket) in order for it to sit down into the X groove(s). You might have to start the plug moving with a manual impact driver (using the largest flat blade it comes with), i.e. the type that you hit with a hammer and causes a turn (make sure its set for anti-clockwise).

The replacement plug and O-ring PN (one unit) can be found here:

Thanks guys i have the part already, and have just gone and bought an impact driver which is 1/2 in sq drv, so i can use the socket on it as per the pic with 3/8 to 1/2 converter, just deciding which size hammer to use lol

Iain, do me a favour - when you get the X- plug off, can you tell me what sits on top of the small spring underneath. As mine pinged up when changing i lost that small bit. Cant work out what it actually did (maybe just a small spacer) but replaced it without it.

Once the X cap is removed on top of the plunger is a little dome shaped part, that is now somewhere on the undertray, oh balls.

i have fitted new plug and seal, the impact driver worked a treat, no seal at all on the old plug!!!!!
