Hi all....
Need some help here cause this time it' becoming a nightmare...
Knock from rightside front suspension.
Did this in random order:
Changed lower ball joint
Changed wishbones
Changed bolts and nuts for the wishbones with al 10mm thickness
Changed topmounts with 034 streetdensity
Changed washers and bolts on the topmounts with new parts
Changed ARB rubber seals
Changed ARB droplinks
Changed steering rack bracket and the right steering arm (all new bolts and nuts)
Changed one schock absorber and put a new one in (the one fitted had 2000km...)
Checked the steering rack arm to find any play with steering damper loose and without steering arms..... No play.
Steering rack it's secured and tight no play on the chassis bolts.
Checked all around the area for loosing parts (i.e. oil cooler) subframe bushes look nice and tight, did a tight up just to be sure.
Took off the droplinks tight up the ARB, and got a ride without it..... still there.
Schock strut and strut cap are solid as a rock (cheked several times) schock strut seats proud on top of the strut.
Question:
Any chance this fr**king noise/knock it's due to cv joint?
I reckon I'm left only with this now?
the knock occurs on uneven surface and not always.
with frozen/cold weather (-10° or lower) the knocking it's getting much worse.
Everytime i'd put my hands on the suspension lot, it seems like ti's getting better.... but eventually it's still there
I've been on this case for two months now and the time I got the car up are uncountable and I'm starting to get very very annoyed by it.
Any light from you guys?
It will be very appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance.

I had this issue one side of the Coupe when I first fitted Bilstein's - there's some kinda washer-type thing that went between the shock and cap, held it all snug once tightened, turned out that had been put on up-side-down. Once fitted it cured the knock but I had several instances of that cap coming loose again; every time i started hearing a knock i knew it was time to tighten it again

yeah its pretty nightmarish timing as the MOT is due tomorrow. Am wondering if its either the dro links or ball joints suffering from standing idle for 6 months have perished etc. visually all looks fine and no excessive movement anywhere. locknut on the strut is tight to the topmount and having a feel about, the spring is correctly retained on the top and bottom perches. Other thing i suppose is that everything is tight up top with the new top mount ans the shock is rattling in the strt maybe, need to check the top cup is tight once this rain goes.
Been a frustrating weekend getting this car sorted but this is really peeing me off royally at the moment

******! Just what you need
Mine was a combination of a self destructing top-mount that lasted a week, and chinese crap droplinks that didn't have the correct sized balljoint on them so they made contact on full lock and heavy deflection
Reading this thread brings back bad memories...that 20v coupe I had was bloody cursed

did you ever get this sorted Alex and what was the cause. Just reinstalled mine with new H&R's and 034 street density top mouunts and i have a horrid clunking on a bumpy road and on full lock mine look alarmingly similar. Wierd and after reinstallation, frankly bloody annoying me

Definately looks like something is missing on yours alex, even compared to cullam3n's example as his has big bits that fall off at random
Definately missing the rubbers on the top and possibly a problem with the way the top mounts are by the look of things.Leave a comment:
