    Clug-clug sounds. Subframe ?

    Heya

Have som clug-clug (?) sounds from my frontsuspension. EVERYTHING but the subframebushes have been replaced. Could they be the cause of the clug-clug sounds ?

My suspension clugs came from using the standard Audi M10 bolt attaching the wishbone bushes to the sub-frame. The Audi bolt is "waisted" with the unthreaded part of the bolt having a smaller diameter than 10mm but the subframe hole and bushes are M10 clearance so I replaced the Audi M10 bolt with a standard M10 x 80 bolt that keeps its diameter of 10mm along it's length and minimises the play to the subframe and inside the bush insert. The situation is made worse if you've fitted poly bushes (which are a great idea) but as you lubricate them with copper grease the ability of the bolt to stay put due to the clamping load is diminshed.
