The RS2 RARB diameter is 17mm and the S2/80q is the same at 15mm.

The Neuspeed is £240 where as the RS2 ARB can be had for £60-100 2nd hand I can see the logic in going RS2 for a 1st time upgrade.

Put 2 S2 bars together with some custom brackets, that'll stiffen it up on the cheap!

Bending stiffness relates to d^4, the levers are the same length but the smaller diameters will flex more thus making them relatively softer.

              TO cmapare the 3 options, 12.5mm S2, 16mm RS2 and 19mm Neuspeed:-

              12.5^4 = 24414 = 1
              16.0^4 = 65536 = 2.68
              18.0^4 = 130321 = 5.3

So the RS2 item is nearly nearly 3 times stiffer and the Neuspeed over 5 times stiffer than standard.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Neuspeed bar is off a B5 chassis? There are plenty of B5 S4 owners who have upgraded to H&Rs and would accept peanuts for a worthless S4 bar if it's thicker, might be a cheap option if RS2 items are rare...

Just had a look and Whiteline do an 18mm rear bar for a B5 chassis at £108 from Demon Tweeks. Now that's a better option all round.

Ooops. Sorry 'bout passing mis-information. My mind, at 40, is going already.

thanks guys.....looking out for a RS2 RARB as the 19mm will be too hard for, as Jamo states, for a first time 'step up' upgrade.....

and I thought the whiteline was for coupe's only....got me a set of slippers don't ya know......

Whiteline make a coupe bar but they also make one for a B5 chassis as per Ben's Neuspeed item.

Having gone for a bar that's nearly 15 times stiffer at the rear than the original I have no hesitation is recommending a larger than RS2 bar at the rear, especially if you're running an RS2 front bar.
