WARNING - GENUINE H&R RS2 SPRINGS (£420+) At LEAST
I work for Mercedes, and have been chatting to a chap called Hans, who works for H&R. The fact is that Nobody in the world can supply H&R GENUINE RS2 Springs for under £400. He said that if i have been offered RS2 Springs for under that price, they must be S2 Avant Springs being sold as RS2 Springs as they are half the price but have a different spring rate.
Frasier,it always comes down to what you really want. You can find the springs for less, and can always check the part numbers anyway. The thing is that RS2 HR springs tend to be stiffer than the S2 ones, and if you combine them with Bilstein shocks, then you get an even stiffer effect. The car will look bloody cool though!
If you are coming down at the leeds meet,Rob(GT500) will be there and you can see an RS2 with OEM springs+bilstein shocks(mine) and an RS2 with Bilstein shocks and HRs.Then you can decide what you like.
Me,ill have a slight modification on the bilsteins on this saturday hopefully so after than, ill keep this setup until i can manage to custom make PSS9 coilovers for the RS2(not in the near future anyway)
OEM springs are the same part numbers.HR however makes 2 different types, one for S2 and one for RS2.It has been discussed before that the RS2 ones are stiffer.
From the factory the RS2 was given uprated dampers but retained the same springs as the S2 Avant.
H&R offer two versions. The S2 version which is stiffer than stock or the RS2 version which is even stiffer. Either will fit both the S2 Avant or the RS2 without any problems. All depends how stiff you like it (ooh, err missus)
If your looking for a sports suspension with a relatively comfortable ride then the S2 version is the one to go for. If you want more performance but less comfort go for the RS2 version. If you want to go all out then fit the RS2 version with Bilsteins, poly bushes and alloy mounts etc. Just watch out for pot holes etc or your teeth might fall out.
Ben
the best intentions are fraught with disappointment - gil grissom
