just to remind you fraser that the rear ones need a modification to sit properly.they need a groove 13mm lower or 20mm lower.I have done both to my car and i realise that with OEM springs the 20mm is the one to use for the car to sit equally low on front and back.Im going tomorrow to a garage to hopefully adjust them.ill take some photos after

      Thank yooooo

Yeah, do you think I should be ok using an electric cutter blade/hacksaw style to make the grove? Will it stay put and not be too dangerous? What do you suggest?

So 20mm lower than the standard groove?

yes.if you can do both, then do them, cause i dont know how the bilsteins will react with the HRs and they may end up needing the 13mm groove from the original.

The groove size and thickness, try to do it with a cutter or a metal/alloy knife and copy the original groove as good as you can(if you are going to have everything fitted in a garage, they will probably be able to do it anyway.)

Then if you notice, the lower alloy plate for the spring, not only rests on the ring that sits on the groove, but also covers it.So there is no way for the ring to fall out and the spring come off.Dont worry about that.

My mechanic measured the OEM shock with the bilstein 6214 rear shock, and noticed that the correct groove was @ 13mm.however since bilsteins are stiffer, they tend to raise the car more than the OEM shocks, and that is why the 20mm groove will suit it better. Now if HR is saying that the RS2 springs lower the car by 30mm front and back, then you might be getting the same effect anyway. But it is easier to have both grooves made now, rather than taking the rear shocks apart again in case you dont like the way the car sits when you fit everything together. If the grooves are there, you can change them on the spot.

With the investment you have made in the car, springs and shocks, take them to a machine shop and get the grooves turned in properly. Shouldn't take more than half an hour as they can go straight in the lathe and they only need to "clock" off the end of the housing or the old groove. You won't regret doing it properly, but you will probably regret doing it badly.

well just got back from the garage. Now the rear springs sit @ 20mm instead of 13mm.I recommend you go for the 20mm initially Fraser and i think the car will look proper that way.Mine now seems to have just about the same height distance(tyre from fender) front and back.
I will post some proper photo when i can get out,and stops raining...

Here are 2 photos.I tried to get the angle as much as i could. From afar the difference is not so noticable,as there is only about 10mm in all,but generally it looks more equal now

the grooves were made from the shop i bought the shocks from Greece. He was a certified Bilstein dealer who also made mods for PSS9 coilovers and so he was able to provide the shocks with the grooves when i bought them.
But im sure a garage with a machine wheel will be able to carry out this task.its no big deal!

just make sure to have the car ready for next saturday! hehe

Yeah, I know a place in Newburn who will hopefully mod the shocks.
