I've just had my rear shocks grooved locally.

Did anyone bother to re-paint the exposed ally to prevent/delay corrosion etc?

Would have been good if I had more time to do a better job and get an adjustable solution on there via GT500. Maybe next time.

mine were done professionally and the grooves were the only part with missing paint. So i didnt bother repainting them. However it wouldnt be bad to add a small touch of paint there. The ring will be fitted in that position so it might not make much of a difference

Likewise, only missing paint in the grooves themselves but figured exposed ally and salt from the roads would corrode. Will see what I can find.

i suggest a small paint bottle with a brush/nose from halfords.I have one for my rims in black(gloss) and you are able to paint without making a mess

Dampers will be shot before any serious corrosion takes place imo.

Not this time, although thanks for the suggestion. I found the best price from Gordon at MotorsportWorld.
