    Wheel bearings on the RS2

    Hello,

Today im replacing all 4 wheel bearings on my RS2. I have got the front hubs off that was easy but the rears seam to be a bit more complicated beause of the hand brake system.

Can any one talk me through how it needs to be done? Can it be done easely?

Also do i need to give the garage any special instructions when they press the old bearings out and re fit new ones?

    Any help is much apreciated.

    Cheers.

Then need to fit the bearings the right way round and fit them to the hub first and then press in the stub axle whilst supporting the bearings from underneath (assuming they're anything like the S2 ones). I've had all sorts of problems with people getting it wrong. Make sure they're pressed fully into the hub too.

I think you will find it tough getting the rear ABS sensor out of the hub. I found it impossible! I believe Tom suggested a workaround in that disconnect the sensor from inside the car and leave it in the hub. Haven't tried it myself. Good luck

I'd agree with tom/lloyd about the abs sensor, if possible best to leave it in so that you don't end up having to replace them as well if they get damaged as some are a right pita to remove.

Yeah, i think im going to leave the rears for the time being.. Its proving to be a bit tricky to remove them.

The front sensors came out fine, i just used a nut splitter tool, they type you use for track rod ends.

            Works a treat.

            Cheers.
