bilsteins are stiffer than oem but a good selection. The car still gets into angles on corners if taken hard, but that is something for the springs to correct after that anyway.

Exactly! From what people say the Konis seem way too stiff. Thanks, i'll look into Bilsteins myself.Comment

Bilsteins are too hard for city use unless used with standard springs BTDT.
I wouldn't have Bilsteins again unless it was a track car or coilovers.
Koni's are in no way shape or form harder, they are softer by a mile. They can be adjusted as well.
Promounts - I'm unsure off, suppose to be the dogs but I've gone for the 034 top mounts way cheaper and there were issues with the supplier of the mounts at the time.Comment

Ok, well i'll see if i can get some actual figures from Koni and Bilstein. Basicly, i'm not sure what shocks would be best, but it seems that if you want a comfortable ride with better handling you're better off having shocks that are close to standard (if not standard) with lowered and stiffer springs. Thats all i'm saying. I think this is what Azman was after, and i only ask because i'm after a similiar setup as i reckon a lot of the aftermarket shocks are generally too stiff.Comment

Thanks a lot Vasily!i would never buy the OEM RS2 shocks again.Had them on my car for 20000Kms,and took them off for bilsteins. All 4 of them were sipping oil and were low on compression. Not very satisfied with them.
S2 and RS2 avant have the same configuration,so bilsteins would be my only choise
I just changed the all four (BOGE OEM) of them monday!
But i must say that i never had any problem with the originals.
OK the left front one was exploded but i can live with that after 200.000km....
I did'nt went for the Bilsteins for three reasons:
Money (i payd the originals BOGE from Audi shelf 560 euros fro the four of them).
And comfort (not for me but for Marco 1.5 years my son that does'nt properly love to cruise long journeys on the RS2)
My Missus....... for Marco's reason.....
(she thinks that the exaust of the RS2 has holes and that it's too expensive to change it...... that's the excuse i made up for the Supersprint upgrade....:mischeif: i coud'nt work another one out for stiffer dumpers
)

well 560euro is not bad,but i could get all 4 bilsteins in greece for about 450euro(while the OEM ones from audi were 650euros!!!
Besides although you always hear that bilsteins are hard and stiff, the RS2 has stiff shocks to begin with, which is why now i totally feel like the car is not stiff at all, only better and not taking any deep angles on corners either.Comment

So i can safely assume from this thread that the Bilsteins are actually stiffer than Koni's? Which version of the Bilsteins is this comparing to, as there are two versions i think?
Also, i think the Koni's are only rebound adjustable, whereas the Bilsteins are simultaneous bump and rebound adjustable? However I don't think you can get the adjustable Bilsteins for the coupe so that's probably not an issue.Comment

Bilsteins are none adjustable for sprint or sport ( sprint rear only ), Koni are near enough same rate as standard on compression harder on rebound but are compatible with lowering springs better.
I'd never buy Bilstein again, they are unforgiving and too hard but they are the shock of choice for the ultimate in road handling on the S2 / RS2Comment

It's a mistake, well documented here. The S2 needs M55 front shocks and the sprints only come in M52 or M50 one of the two which fits the CQ but not the S2/RS2Comment
