    Fitting new antiroll bar rear?

Right i have a whiteline rear antiroll bar for my Avant, the thing is how do i losen the bolts off when i can't get under the car when its on the ground?

Is it safe enough to pt the axel stands on the rear wishbones as this would mean that the weight of the car is still on the antiroll bar?

    Are the wishboes strong enough?

Ant help would be great cheers in advance Lee

I wouldn't put the axle stands on the wishbones, put them on the chassis rails, will be fine. Better than putting the car ramps as you'll find you won't get the car completely level and then there will be weight on the bar. Get the wheels off the ground on both sides so there is no stress on the bar, it should be fine.

lee.just put the jack under the centre of the rear subframe and make sure that both rear wheels are off the floor...there is no tension on the bar like this and can be easily unbolted...undo the mounting clamps first then undo the link bars and refit..really very easy pal..i would change the clamp bushes also as the new bar will be a little bit thicker

I thought that if the wheels were off the ground that they would be stress on the antiroll bar?????

So your saying if i just put it on axel stands as normal it should be ok?

I haven't put the axel stands under the wish bones so don't worry!!!!!

yes just jack up as normal and remove.
..you only get stress on the bar when 1 wheel is on the ground causing a twisting effect on the bar(thats how they work)..you will also get stress if you put stands under the wishbones

yes mate as easy as that.
..you will be thinking of torsion bars.they have a massive ammont of tension on them and need some proper care to attend to

Well this is a job that will be done very shortly.

I bought the lot new bolt's,nut's,clamps for the bushes and anti roll bar drop links. Thought i might as well while i'm changing it/renewing it

All part of the process of upgrading and renewing

                        Cheers aging lads
