not sure if this helps or not but the corrado used to have a similar issue.

try unplugging the ISV and settin gthe idle manully using the throttle stop on the TB. the isv is to help as im sure you are aware not fully control.

the next is throttle cable. an old cable can stick and return at a slower rate. wind 3 or 4 turns off your damper and see if it hits the switch easier.you should be able to see this easily. the damper can sometimes slow the cable to an extent that if its old it sticks.

also worth going the other way and tightening it as a slow reacting isv will dip too sharply.

on the corrado it was blue temp swithc off and rev and set and replug to stop the timing compensation. i dont know the procedure here.

i dont actually run my isv any more. i also removed mine from the corrado in the end too as they are problematic.

i get the odd dip in idle and the occasional stall very rare though. the main are of issue is cold start. i hold revs at 1100 on the pedal for 10 secs then its ok. i dont have aircon though and i thing ISV helps this.

hope this helps but i expect it wont.

all VAG ISV's are poor. never seen an issue with a subaru one though.

Good point there - could be slack or badly adjusted cable right enough !

              Paul, I know nothing

but it's never stopped me before.

Is it the fact that the micro-switch on the throttle body not being activated by the throttle cable when it comes back to rest?, i.e. the drivers foot comes off the accelerator.

Apologies if this has been mentioned /covered already.

              Hope you nail it.

              Kind regards.

                  Paul,

The last ABY's weren't fitted with the throttle damper and I understood the Motronic s/w was changed to do in the s/w what the damper did mechanically. True? Rubbish?

Certainly I don't have the damper & I don't get any idle speed issues or surges.

                  John
