based on aircon adding 50kg to am axle weight of 1 ton I doubt that the springs are drastically different. All RS2 had aircon springs at the front. Interestingly those rear springs seem a lot stiffer relative to the rear that the coupe springs. Could send some coupe rears to have tested?

Talked to the guys from the shop today,
apparently the springs i sent them had 1x1x1 orange, silver, blue stamps but since they were quite old i doubt that they came from a non A/C car.
Anyway, Neil explained that the springs over the years drop but their spring rate does not decrease. The reason of the drop is the normal metal fatigue of the springs.Since what i asked was a small drop of 15mm there was no need to increase the stiffness and the suspension should work nicely this way.
Also he mentioned tha in order to change the stiffness/hardness there should be some cutting involved as well.
Anyway im receiving the springs on Monday and i will decide if and when i may use them. Not sure yet...
It's a reasonably involved job. Lots of work getting the strut out, especially on the front. I don't know about the rear of the avant, but the rear of the coupe is basically the same again with fewer niggles. Then you have to get the top mounts off each strut, disassemble, reassemble, back on the car. I reckon it takes about 3 hours on a coupe.
i see,
probably will be done next year sometime so that i can measure the shocks as well and make sure if they need service, and so get the job done all together.I already bought the 034 top mounts to use for next time, hope they last longer as well...
When you've done the job before it's easy. Had both rear hubs in a box 45 minutes after driving the car into the garage when I got the bearings done. No idea on an Avant. Cost me £40 a strut to have springs and dampers fitted a few years ago.

The total length has been reduced by more or less 15mm on all 4 springs and they are painted red.
Now they are measuring about 285-290mm and before they were 310-315mm
ill see when i will try them out and get back to you...
they seem to have done a nice job.I hope this mod was worth it.I wouldnt be buying the HRs anyway,so if this works, then i may postpone the coilover kit for a while
1x1x1 orange, silver, blue doesn't compute for S2/RS2 applications as far as I can tell... Had a quick look round the family album for other B3/B4 possibilities across the years but not found it yet.
well this is what the guy at the shop told me.Since these had been laying around for quite a while it can be possible that some markings could have been erased,or it is possible that he was wrong.
I couldnt find myself these markings on any other model,so ... no not 100% positive!
i will let you know when i fit them what the results will be..
judging by the fact that these springs came off an Audi S2 Avant in Germany, according to the seller,i would also assume that it was with a clima/or A/C as well.I would think that an S2 NOT having an A/C would be quite hard to find!
