Mine's done this on occasion. Just assumed it was the diffs having a head fit...

Mine does this too but putting it down to subframe bushes at the mo as it needs a new set so imagining them flexing under the load turning the wheels slightly off the track.... Possible. will see when I have the alloy ones fitted.

This is more likely to happen in cars that have low profile wide tyres, especially when they are cold, depending on what tracking you are running. Just because this happens does not necessarily mean the tracking is "wrong". I had this happen to me in my old coupe with 235 wide tyres on, with a little toe in. Now I run a little toe out and this no longer happens.

Do you hear a clunking noise when this happens. Mine does something weird like thia when reversing out of the drive at full lock. Only when first started from cold. Feels like a locked center diff. Its a URs4...

I used to get this on my S2 when the front tyres needed replaced.

If they're worn on the edges at all it will skip on full lock

Yep sounds very mechanical and clunks. I know for sure it was the tyres as I change between standard 15" speedlines and 17" Azevs for trackdays. Only does it with the Azevs when I reverse out my drive on a cold morning.

It could've been worn tyres too, yes.

Mine sound slike the diff lock is on and cuasing the tyres to scrub, however, you can feel something tensioning up through the steering and then all of a sudden releasing and causing a loud clunk.

The alignment has done wonders for the car, it's very stable now but unfortunately this is still happening on full lock both in reverese and going forwards.

What tyre make and size are you using?

I believe this behaviour is perfectly normal for our cars. Mine has done it since the year dot when it's cold.

It's a combination of cold oil in the torsen diff and the steering geometry at full lock.................not to be worried about

I agree to a certain extent. It probably is just a combination of certain factors (like tyre softeness, size, tracking, etc). None of these things have to be "wrong" but I reckon a tweak here and there would stop it.

Like I say, my coupe used to do it with Eagle F1 235 wide tyres and a little toe in. Now I use Proxies (still 235 wide) with a little toe out and it never does it.

                        Hope that helps anyway.

Hi all, sorry to hijack thread.

My Diff lock is stuck After some fun on the ice, my diff will not disengage. ABS is showing on dash (as it should with diff lock on). Any idea how to release the lock ? things ive tried :

                          pressing diff lock button repeatadly
tunring off ignition for 1 hour
                          driving 70mph
                          more ice fun drifting

ran car for 1 hour to make sure its warmed up but still diff lock is stuck and it bunny hops on corners

                          HELP!

Worst case you could get under the back of the car and disengage yourself, or see if it is iced up on the back

Is the controller not under the rear seat??

I think you should be able to find out what is going on that way.

Thanks guys. I found that it turns off on its own accord. No pattern to it, must be stiff after little use for many years. Thanks for reply's
