    avant/limo rear subframe issue

    So...

im dismantling the rear subframe, and i cannot remove the 2 bolts (one on each side), that have the offset washers... on that track control thingy.

how the hell do they come off??

    edit: pics:

second issue: the T piece for the rear brake line is stuck in the subframe. has a bolt on it, but the whole piece is turning around. no hole on the other side of the subframe, so i dont think there is a nut on the other side (inside the SF).

    so...?

and at the end, a good example of a ruined bush, must have come like this out of the production line:

    normal bush:

    busted bush:

btw, it tried beating the bolts out, no effect. i can turn them for 1/4 of a turn and that is all.

      Top picture.

With the nut off, that eccentric bolt should come out. The Vagcat diagram shows there is nothing stopping it...

You will have to use a bigger hammer...

Grind the head of the bolt holding the 'T' piece on, what ever falls into the SF should drop out of a hole somewhere. Then weld a nut at the right place for the new 'T' piece.

Had exactly the same problem on my avant, the bolt going through the bush on the arm was totally rusted solid. It did not want to free its grip on the bolt whatsoever, even whacking it with a chisel and a club hammer made booger all difference.
In the end I cut the bush and bolt in half with a reciprocating saw, used about 5 blades to get through that sucker.
Had no choice with that option, fortunateley had a spare arm and a bolt with the eccentric washer on it
When I looked at the cross section of where I had just cut through was amazed how fused it had become with rust.
There is no room for an angle grinder in there so if yours is like mine was a recip' saw is your only option

i used a knife to take all the rubber off my subframe bush and then beat the hell out of it with an hammer against the metal, a sh*t work but i got it loose after a while. the bolt to adjust toe in/out (offset in/out washer is just to take out, nothing that is hitting it.) i am going to make these with uniballs soon btw .

and the brake line t is also to unscrew, either it is stuck like hell or the weld-nut on ther inside is broken so it is spinning.

i got the busted bush out already, exactly the way you described. the offset bolt must be rusted in with the bush. i will try to force it out, also try with a press. if it fails it will be the reciwhatever saw

the rubber of the bush is not the problem, the metal core of the bush is (dunno how to call it). that is rusted solid seized stuck to the bolt.

i have seen that thread, but i cant put alu "bushes" to the subframe, it will be too harsh on our roads.

                          i have a project: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28308

it is probably in the wrong subforum
