Power steering pump making a racket

The banjo connection on the top of the power steering pump was caked in gunk and I wasn't sure if I had a leak or not, so I blasted it clean with the pressure washer.

I wondered at the time if it was a good idea.. and since I did it it's started making a proper noise. It goes up with the revs and gets worse when the steering is turned. It sort of sounds like something is rubbing on the pulley, but nothing is.

Have I screwed it up? I have a bit of a leak on the metal pipe that runs across the radiator so I'm going to take it all off and have a look and hopefully repair it, so while I'm tinkering with the PAS I might as well try and sort this noise out.

i had a similar problem with mine, i tightened the belt, checked fluid but this didnt help. it turned out to be 1 of the mounting bolts, it had worked loose and was rubbing on the back of the pulley. hope this helps mate

I have had this noise and its the pump on its way out unfortunately, i have just changed the power steering pump. Mine also used to mirror the sound of the revs from the car, it gradually got worse and sprang a leak as it blew a seal.
