    Pro Mount Lube?

Is it recommended to lubricate/protect the spherical bearing within the Pro mount with some kind of protective grease?
    Thanks!

Good question, i installed mine dry on the basis any lube would only attract dust.

Hmm... then that would start to make a paste which wouldn't be too good!

Some CV joint grease perhaps? or wheel bearing grease... both are successful at preventing seizing and are up to the environment for sure.

A squirt of WD40 every few months does the trick too. But i guess that CV grease like Andy said would be a more permanent solution.

Re: Lube & the Naked Pro-Mount...

            Not withstanding that:
            a) The subject Pro-Mount spherical bearing is Teflon-lined, and therefore strictly speaking, it's function does not require additional lubrication, as it is permanently lubricated when made; &
            b) The said lining is not easily contaminated, except by any petroleum, oil, or lube that you can possibly think of, so don't do it! Further, the liner will be seriously, irretrievably and permanently damaged.

I don't like to see them completely dry either, but one must suppress this reflex. I do foresee the seal/bearing attachment coming under attack from the elements. Caution: whatever one does, care must be taken to prevent any POL product from contacting or being able to migrate onto the Teflon lining (the entire inner surface of the spherical outer race) or even to the edge of it; and the ball itself of course. The lining's backing is porous and will soak up whatever is put in contact with it, with bad effect. The bearing is wonderfully strong and therefore not made of stainless-steel, but entirely "rust-able" steel, and as it is also exposed on it's underside to whatever can be thrown up there onto it's races and working face's, here's what I've done to provide rust prevention whilst not attracting more dirt, and protecting the bearing's lower surface's from road-spray...
