    Power steering issue

Hello all, not been on for a while busy with jobs on house and things

Right, Been out for a spirited drive this evening (got to love the s2 sometimes)
when locking the wheel very quickly, say in a chicane the steering fights you as in resistance is felt for a second then all is well.

Fluid level is good and system was flushed not so long ago.

Is this likely to be the easy to change pump or the pain in the backside steering rack ?

    All help appreciated

    cheers

Most likely a slipping belt. The limit of the pas system is very easy to reach, try and drive quickly through a slalom and you will see what i mean

So this looks like a trait of the car rather than a fault, ill check the belt though

As you say its only when changing steering direction very quickly that this happens.

IIRC there is a restrictor in the fluid line to the rack? Has anyone tried running without that? Just wondered if it might reduce the PAS pressure and give less assistance and maintain more stable pressure at the rack

Yes, restrictor has been dumped lots of times, only thing seen after wards has been a bit more noise from powersteering.
All quattro products have been dermatologically tested, and are safe for daily use.
