    swapping springs over

How much time would it take / how easy is it to swap the suspension springs over?

Any other specific tools needed, apart from spring compressor?

(I couldn't find any 'how to' guides)

only other tools are the VW524 and the VAG3078 for the top nut and slotted nut.

Should take about 2 hrs per side if you remove the complete upright from the car to do the swap

Make sure you put the spring on the right way up, they look the same top and bottom but aren't If you get it wrong they will 'CLUNK' when you turn, if you're unlucky. Had this on mine, it was a little disconcerting

buy new bolts @ the bottom where you connect the hub to the suspension hosing also, why not do it properly while you having it down

Torque is 110Nm +90degrees, had these come loose at the 'ring in '07, car felt a bit flat on turn in, thought it was the tyres, nope, had a few degrees of play in each joint scary stuff.

Ahem - how can I tell which is the right way up for the springs? I've not done this before so thanks for the tips!

If they're H&R then I think you need the writing the correct way up

If you look at the spring seats, one is flat all the way (perpendicular to the axis of the spring) round and the other is slightly helical, I think the flat section goes at the base and there is a moulding on the top mount holder for the helical section, I might be **** about face but have a good look before you pull the springs off, you'll see what I mean (I hope).
