    Advice: CV boot kit

    Hi there,

My CV boot for the front o/s has come loose at the wider end. Do I need to purchase the 'kit' to reattach it? Audi are quoting £27?

Is it easy to fit and what do I need to do?!

    Thanks guys

Loose or torn? If its just come loose replace the clamp, even a tie-wrap will do the job. If its torn i would advise you buy the Audi kit as you get a boot, clamps, greese, and a new CV joint bolt too. Having said that i dont remember them being that expensive...

Fitting is an ok job as long as you dont mind getting your hands dirty, all you have to do is undo the big CV joint bolt, then split the bottom balljoint to seperate the a-arm from strut. To get the CV joint off the drive shaft screw the big bolt back into the CV joint until it pops off.

To tighten the metal clamps I ground a flat on the reverse face of a pair of old pincer pliers - work a treat.

If the outer cover has come off factor in plenty of cleaning time - that grease gets everywhere.

          Tywrap - £2 for a box of 100.

£27 for an Audi tech to fit it - priceless...

NFW they are quoting £27 to renew the CV boot !
