  • front lower wishbone question

2 month back i had the bushes done, and now they are knackered again, are there two different sizes of wishbone? I ask this cuz I am lost for a reason for why they died so quick, being as I am sure they were fitted ok?

Hello, I was around when he did 'em, they have now got over quarter inch of play on the bone now, and knocks like **** when throttle on or off.Having had a look, it seems there is some room between the chassis bracket and the bone bushes either side of the bush. They are also audi originals, and when given the choice between 'cheap or not' he picked the not version.

2 months dosent sound very long, if you drive hard on rough roads you will kill them very quickly. I used to change mine on average every 6 months until i went with poly bushings. Then again thats Irish roads for you...

there is normally a "gap" between the wishbone and subframe as the central bush sleeve is wider then the wishbone - but obviously there shouldn't be any play. Have you pryed it yourself to check for excess play? Are you sure its the wishbones that are knocking not the top mounts or an ARB droplink?

I'd guess its not the wishbones TBH. If they had that much play, knocking would be the least of your worries, it'd be like driving a bowl of jelly

My bet is on ARB link rods here... No way 2 months will kill healthy new wishbone bushes - unless thats 2 months of severely heavy duty driving on horrendous roads.
