S2 B4 (avant/sedan & RS2) RARB options

While its fresh in my head from a family album session today...

Stock S2 RARB is very weedy - maybe 12mm diameter (8A0 511 409G) - common to all B4 quattro actually.

RS2 RARB is better at 16mm with p/n 8A0 511 409 L - this is a well known upgrade for B4 quattro owners.

There are some other options worth capturing here -

1 - 2001 RS4 (B5) lists a 15mm bar as 8D0 511 409
2 - There is a 'heavy duty' 17mm bar listed for same RS4 without a part number
3 - Whiteline offer an 18mm version called 'BAR14Z'

Pretty sure Neuspeed have something bigger again, and I have heard talk of 22mm bar from whiteline - to be confirmed. Anybody else ?

Neuspeed is listed for A4 quattro, 21 or 22mm from memory though i have been told the whiteline is hollow so there are roughly the same force.

The 17mm one I don't know yet but I am making enquiries.

However, Audi very quickly latched on to the fact people were buying the RS2 ones, and raised the prices, so once I have a price, I will ask if anyone else wants and pay for a bunch at once if interested.

I wander if the front is the same ARB!

Front of B5 is VERY different to B4 - it has the double wishbone thing goin on there too.

if people starts to buy rs4 RARB i maybe could make a bunch of reinforcements brackets in black steel, tig welded..

just make a copy of my whiteline bracket

That's actually not the case, what happened was all the stock of RS2 bars sold out.

Audi had to find a new manufacturer for the bar and it then came in at a whooping new price. It was on back order for like 6-8 months

Its a higher spec bar for sure - but at four times the price of RS4 15mm bar... Admittedly the reinforcement brackets are an important consideration too - though may only be necessary on a bar that stiff.

How much is the RS2 bar new out of interest? they go 2nd hand for £100 on the forum, I allegedly have one on my avant but i'd need to measure it to be sure

Dunno new price of RS2 RARB - but it must be into £200 territory if half of that is 2nd hand price... But the 15mm RS4 RARB is even cheaper than that (shhh)

Maybe your right and the whiteline is solid. Neuspeed would be my choice due to the brackets. Group buy for rs4 arb and brackets would be perfect!
