Guys what's the maximum you will lower...

your car? Mine looks like a German Touring Car. It rides like a damn wagon. I have Bilsteins, Intrax Springs and CompBrake solid strut mounts. Is this a bad combination.
I'm afraid the HD Bilsteins have given up the ghost. I don't think the HD's are as Heavy Duty as Bilstein advertises them to be. There is no give on the front suspension at all. It feels like I'm running on collapsed shocks. If not Bilsteins what other shock can I use.

Sounds like you are running on the bump stops! What drop are the springs supposed to be?

Max drop on an S2 would be 30mm IMO, you can go more but it ruins the on road handling. (Different story for track work).

They are Bilstein HD's. They are supposed to be made...

for lowered S2 Coupes. Apparently NOT!

It's probably the valving in the Bilsteins. Mine had no give when combined with H&R RS2 springs. It was great on track but on the road it was awful. I think the problem is they are valved to work with the stock springs and when used with a different spring rate they are all over the place.

We had the dampers revalved and now it is much better. I'm not entirely sure what was changed but Jason (UR-S4) will know as he has all the data and figures for before and after the modifications)

            Aren't Bilsteins guaranteed for life?

If so, then they better make this right or is there a caveat with them?

I'm not sure. We are lucky enough to have a contact at Bilstein R&D so we just send them away and he works his magic. They must have a similar setup on your side of the pond somewhere. Especially with (and no disrespect to yourself) the compensation culture you have.

Anything more than 30mm and your geometry will be messed right up, with your wishbones pointing up at the sky and roll centre lowered considerably making the car roll more and generally handle like a wet sack of ****.

Unlessd you do some pretty substantial custom work i.e. custom hub carriers / ball joints / wishbone mounts then going too low is a big mistake (IMHO).

For fast road driving I would not lower it at all , unless you live somewhere with amazingly perfect roads ! If I had a lowered s2 on the roads I drive on it would slow me down as I simply would not have the suspension travel to cope with the bumps .
I've been in and driven many cars lowered and unless on nice roads it does not give you better handling , there is the illusion of better handling as with stiff short springs the car turns in faster but when you hit uneven parts of the road the suspension runs out of travel and you just loose grip.
I have a friend with a lowered s2 who has tried to follow me down some back roads and even though as he says my standard car is “leaning over in the bends like a boat” In front of him when I get to the limit of grip he simply cannot follow me as his car just wants to leave the road.
Don't forget the S2 is a lowered car to start with.
If you plan to go to a lot of track days then all well and good, as EspenW points out Porsche did not lower the s2, I would just like to do what they did and uprate the anti roll bars, as I have already done the shocks.
