    2.8 CQ Front Axle Load

Apologies for reposting this. I literally can't find this information anywhere. It would appear no one at any at Audi can help me out either.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

    ORIGINAL POST:
    Hi All,

After months/years of deliberation I have finally decided to bite the bullet and buy some KW V1s.

I had intended to build my own coilovers but I have made the mistake of taking the cheaper option too many times...... so, I'm gonna dig deep and fork out the cash.

I have a 95 2.8 CQ. I have checked the strut mounting bolt size and it's M14. So, all that remains is to confirm the front axle load and the order can be placed.

Can anyone confirm whether the front axle load is <950kg or 951>1100kg for the 2.8CQ? If someone can point me in the direction of a tech spec document that confirms this then even better.

I'm pretty sure from what I've seen on line that it's 951>1100kg (like the 3B and ABY) but I need to be sure considering they're gonna cost me the best part of £900!

Thanks in advance for your help

    John

P.S. Imagine my delight to find after months of searching and £90 spent obtaining a spare set of struts for the car that KW no longer require any units to be sent (before or after)...oh well

I'd guess its almost certainly less than 950kg. The car weighs around 1400kg and roughly around a 60/40 front to rear weight distribution which gives approx 840kg on the front axle. HTH

local weighbridge (at the dump) and drive just the front wheels on. Should only cost you a fiver or something?

            Thanks for the responses guys.

I'm still not entirely sure which way to go. I know the 2.8 was 100kg+ lighter than the S2 but S2central.net states the following on the spec page.

            ABY:
            - Unladened weight = 1525
            - Front axle load limit = 1100

            3B:
            - Unladened weight = 1420
            - Front axle load limit = 1035

Both these front axle load limit values equate to approximately 72% of the unladened weight.

I'll try to find the offical unladened weight for the 2.8 CQ and calculate 72% of that. Doing some quick maths it would appear that it would need to be no greater than 1320 for the front axle load limit to be <the 950kg option......

My only issue with going with the above logic is that fact this is gonna be an expensive mistake if I get it wrong.

Any further advice is much appreciated.

            John
