Ahh the masters tricks - totally forgot you could do that - have done it on gasket kits when looking at contents. Looks like same 82mm bearing alright.

just to make it clear, in this quote you are saying that the front bearings fit to the rear, but the front bolts do not fit to the rear?

just checked it in da family album, the front and rear bearings have the same part number. myth confirmed!

According to my etka

:

Front: B 893 498 625 E
Rear: 4D0 407 625 E
But both are 82mm and rear says 82x37mm

lind4hl: yes that is the part number for the front KIT, double klick on it, press the additional info button on the bottom, and you will see al the parts that are in this kit

Yup, having just done a fr and a rr wheel bearing on a b4 16v quattro they are the same fr and rr.

my avant bearings were the same all round . done mine nightmare getting old ones out.
