      So Cast not Pressed?

Are all RS2's the same as mine?

They are forged alright - aka 'cast' - but I think forged is a better term.

I don't think all RS2 are the same in this regard - I expect that some will have been fitted with the pressed versions - unless Audi made the forged ones exclusively available for the RS2 - doubtful.

You have the forged/cast type. The RS2 shows has forged/cast or pressed depending on the chassis number.

Now that I've been bothered to look it up... Nuvo is right - both types apply to RS2 - but with different cutovers compared to S2.

In short if the RS2 VIN is up to 8C-S-000299 it should have forged/cast front wishbones (893 407 147D and 148D)
But later VINs (8C-S-000300 onwards) should be pressed (895 407 147A and 148A)

So essentially MY94 and the earliest MY95 are forged... Majority of MY95 and all MY96 are pressed.

quite strange the later versions got the pressed ones instead of forged I would say.

Mines is a late 1994 registered 24/12/94 and has pressed wishbones, i'll have a look and see if mines is a MY94 or MY95.

Again - the family album is just a guide - the front wishbones are well known to be a bit random sometimes. Registration dates mean nothing here - VIN is needed for reference...

Looking at V-pages I see the significance of chassis number 8C-S-000299 as that was LAST car built in the 1st month of MY95 production - August 1994... So in theory, all RS2 built from 1st Sep 1994 should have pressed wishbones - that probably covers Smith_S2 - though again no guarantees from 'KATE' sometimes.

Been discussed before, if production was coming to an end and they ran out of forget wishes bones they'd use the stock of pressed as it's cheaper

                      Next question

On the Powerflex website they have to the 2 listings for the B4 wishbones:

                      - PFF3-101: Front Wishbone Bush For Steel Arm

                      - PFF3-102: Front Wishbone Bush For Alloy Arm

Im guessing from the above pic I posted I need PFF3-101? The reason I think this is because my wishbones are steel (I put a magnet on them), if they were alloy the magnet wouldnt have stuck to the wishbone?

Am I correct? New Zealand is a long way if I have to exchange them

I think powerflex is confusing the issue here.

From your photo - you have forged/cast bones - these are what powerflex call the 'alloy arm'... I can do the magnet test on a forged bone here if you wish to get a sanity check.

I do also think that Powerflex is wrong on this one, may be worth to check it with Powerflex so that they can change it?

Final conclusion on that aluminium Powerflex arm?

I have the forged/cast bones like in the first posting, so I would need the aluminium bushes?

                              Bram,

than you need the PFF3 -102.

I have the PFF3-101 for my S2 since i have pressed arms (so not the one shown in the picture above)
My fronts were the same as the rear.

I beleve forged (Alloy as powerflex names them) have bigger bushes than pressed (steel) arms, correct?
