    back on the road

    Hi all,

not posted for a while as the cars been off the road for a year or so.

now have the means to bring it back.

it's got mot etc etc but the suspension needs looking into.

I was thinking of just putting new standard springs on (was quoted) £600 for the whole lot?

But just been reading around and wondering what the best options are.

Getting older now so won't be throwing it around any tracks, and will (unfortantly) will be mainly motorway driving.

    So questions

    1) is standard the right way to go?

    2) is this a good price

    3) if I just get standard springs I could get some adj shocks later on, is this an option?

    many thanks in advance.

My advice for the way to go would be Bilstein 55mm inserts (Stiffest they do) with new standard S2 springs and genuine bushes and top mounts.

For street do not use Bilsteins on a Coupe, granted they are the best handling shocker.

Koni's are far more comfortable and with Koni H&R they are more comfortable that with Bilstein and standard springs.

£600 for stock springs is a rip off, you can buy 2nd hand for £60 or H&R for £150

also: should note it was £600 for new shocks and srpings all round.

can you point me in the right direction perhaps?

Thought it was a little steep.

I priced up the H&R and Koni set up (which seems to be an industry standard ) and it came to £810, which is a little steep takinginto account what I ahve spent already getting it back to raod worthy condition!

and another thing is where I live and work I'm not sure if I want the drop that comes with the H&R springs.

£600 for Konis and OE springs is worth it. I have that setup and it's stiffer than stock but not too bad. Will be fine on 16" or 17" wheels. Getting new bushes throughout makes a massive difference, like driving a new car!

No. HnR spings and Konis minimum or Billies for track use FWIR. Not worth having HnR on the road, especially in a coupe.

it's £600 all in for the standard set up. (4Xstandard shocks and 4X standard springs)

it's the price of the konis' that's the set-back ~ £650 just for the shocks.

if it wasn't for that I'd have the H&R/Konis set-up.

if it was £500 i'd take his hand off grabbing them.

QST is quattro sports tuning. Mixed opinions of them on here but i wont go into that. They were fitting it all for me and there was no real difference in price between the suppliers of the springs. I just checked and the springs were £250 so £600 all in plus fitting
