    Testing Shock Absorbers

    Evening everyone,

As payment for installing a set of KW V1's on my mate's coupe quattro (which incidentally now looks fantatsic), he has kindly donated a car set of struts and 4 Boge shocks to my coupe.
I am going to build a suspension setup off the car, geting the struts blasted and powder coated and then wrapping them in H&R's.

The shocks I have look in good conditon but here is my question:

Once compressed, 3 of them return to their extended length. the remaining one though does not and you can hear a slight "gurgle" when compressing. Does this mean it's had it's day? What are the signs of worn or fubarred shocks? Can you get shocks tested?

I'm a real novice when it comes to the workings of suspension so any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dan

Yeah your right that one shock sounds fooked. New genuine ones aren't as expensive as one would expect, if I was going to the trouble of powder coating them I'd rebuild them all with new struts as a mater of course, especially if their all as old as the blown one.

These are now going up for sale. As mentioned above, one shock seems like it's a bit soggy
