    Solid subframe mounts

Hope someone out there can be of assistance. Have started on my CQ at last, you can blame me for the rotten weather, as its rained every day since I dropped the rear sub. Anyway, enough ramblings, would anyone on the forum have the dimensions for the solid sub mounts, as I,ve been given some ally round bar, and access to a lathe. Should be fun as have not touched a lathe for over 35 years.
    Cheers in anticipation

    .

What grade alloy is it? and you'll need to anodise them...

    Or just PM Bambridge...

Something i've wondered about using alloy subframe mounts, how do you eliminate Galvanic Corrosion due to the contact of two dissimilar metals?

do you have to anodise? or can you just paint them?

Just realized, ive got some custom made alloy spigot rings, do i need to paint them? due to contact with the metal on the hub?

        .

Choosing the right grade will go a long way to preventing galvanic corrosion...something like 6061.

Anodising will then add further to this...i have a set of spacer 'H&R' which are anodised and a set 'FW' which aren't?

Painting will help but not as 'hard' as anodising, could also use a light smear of 'anti corrosion paste'.

Cheers for that Flat on my Back

Will hopefully find out on Monday what grade it is, its just lying in the workshops looking for a home. Grade never entered my head being electronics trade.
The info I'm after is the thickness of alloy needed from the body to the subframe soz I can keep the same geometry as the original mounts. If unsuitable, will have to buy originals to keep cost down as budget tight, with the need of a new screen and sounds like bottom end as well.

ps on the dissimilar metals query, I remember years ago having a Cavalier SR with alloys and having to hit with sledge hammer to get off, and in one instance loosening the wheelnuts and driving and turning to loosen the wheel. Not a car to have puncture in foul weather.

I don't have anything like that to hand this second, i don't think.. I do have some 'copper grease'? is that any good?
