Strut tool 2096/a is Great !!

First of all big thanks to Carl aka "Flat on my back" for loaning me a shock absorber and the the 2096/a tool

Carl suggested to me that using this tool you can remove the shocks with out removing the struts from the car, I was not so sure but have discovered you can

This means the shocks can be changed in about half an hour each

I'm sure many people on hear are aware of this but I thought I'd share it with you for those that don't.

Is this on a coupe or something else? Ive heard you can do it on the UrS4/6s, but not a B3.

No my avant

Bit fiddley but basically remove wheel, compress spring enough to be able to remove top mount/spring plate/bump stop, insert strut tool through hole in inner wing and withdraw the shock via the same way.

Only other pain is getting the shock to release from the strut but I got round that with a slide hammer.

Can be done on the front of Coupe's and Avant's. I've manage without the tool, I'd love to know what it looks like.

Ahh, I see. Saves slipping with the Stilson's and bashing the wing, not that I've ever done that but I've had some close ones.
