centering the rear subframe on avant/limo

Well i have "overhauled" the rear suspension, and while mounting the rear subframe on, i noticed it has quite a lot of play left/right and forward/backward.

i would like to center it before going to the 4wheel alignment, i dont think the guys there will know or will have the patience to try this.

is there a factory guide? i have the rs2 workshop manual, but there is no info about this...

Rok if the alignment place is doing it right they should first measure the set-back and wheelbase so can square up the front and rear subframes before setting the camber and toe - if you don't ask ask them they might not bother to do it - don't ask me how i know this

On the coupe one of the mouting points is fixed to limit the position of the subframe, dunno about the B4 set-up though..... HTH

b4 got 1 place where the nut can slide a little bit (front left bolthole)

One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!

error: the coupe bushes have a tight hole, the bolt barely moves inside it, but the b4 bolts have half an inch of play in the bushes... i will snap some pics.

Your right Skull the range of movement is huge on a B4 rear end. I thought i had set mine in the middle but after getting it tracked it was clear the subframe needs to move to the passenger side of the car. Best idea i can come up with is to center all the adjustment nuts and fit the wheels, then move the subframe until the camber is equal on each side. Thats how i plan to correct mine....

assuming that the bolt holes ("nuts") on the chassis are centered, i only need to center bushes to the bolt?

inserting a sleeve in the bushes would solve the problem...

              big gap

15 minutes and a copper sleeve is made

i now hope that the chassis nuts are right on target...

Hello and happy new year does anybody found a solution or tips how to center the subframes, on my coupe both front and rear subframes ar not center, front is way to much to the left, and back is about 1,5 centimeter to the right. This happened after i refurbished the subframes, and the guy who made the wheel geometry didn't notice anything

But your going to have to go old skool and sting the car.

For get the wheels as your datrum and make the centre of the sub frame bolt holes it, set a day a side and get a good paint pen.
