    RS2 suspension knock

A mate of mine has been complaining of a knock from the passengers side (RHD car) suspension. Ive just driven the car and it doesnt inspire confidence in driving the car to be honest.
The thing is hes spent close on $2,500 NZ dollars with the local Audi dealership but it still knocks!

    So far he has replace:

    - Steering damper
    - Front sway bar links
    - Front sway bar bushes
    - Front suspension top mounts
    - Both front ball joints

Any idea what the knock could be? It seems to happen going around right hand corners or over little bumps which rattle the car.

I have the same problem on my RS2 with a bucket of new parts fitted:

      - Front wishbones (cast)
      - Front sway bar links
      - Front sway bar bushes
      - Front suspension top mounts
      - Both front ball joints

Car had new front schocks OEM Boge in July..... with all parts regarding them from topmounts to dust cover etc etc

I found it's one of the schocks that is knocking.... even with low mileage (4000 km)...
I'm going to change it in the next days

Is it any chance it could be an engine mount?

          worth a try.

Also have a look at the bushes on the steering arms, where they bolt to the rack. They get loose.

I have a small knock on mine, traced to ware in the steering rack. That'll be fun!

A mere 10k after completing my bloanket replacement of all suspension bushes and steering arms and mine's knockign again. I think it's just normal operation Check that all the bolts are tight, subframe etc.

My bet is your strut inserts need tightening down. Get a set of stilsons through the springs at the front and tighten the insert locking caps. They can come loose.

Well my mate (the owner of this RS2) took the car to a Independent workshop. It turned out when the local Audi dealer replace the top mounts one was put in the correct way, the other was put in upside down! Muppets!
                Its all sorted now

Going to just say sounds like top mounts i put a set of SKF ones on and within a month one failed which is unusual as SKF one's are exact same as the O.E one's
But hey bet the tech got the piss ripped out of him for fitting the mount wrong LOL

                  cheers Raj
