    Ball joint pinch bolt...?

    Just a quicky...

In the process of putting the old girl back together after its "winter" overhaul.

Does anybody know what spec the front ball joint pinch bolt is on a aby coupe..?

    Many thanks

    James

Buy it from main dealer only!!! Although they are 10.9 not 12.9 which is stronger they come with a special coating to stop them rusting within 5 seconds from fitting. I had the missfortune of discovering what happens when the bolt rusts from age. Fortunately my experience was at 5mph pulling away from a light.

Note that the number given above is only for cars after chassis 8B-P-008000

                Earlier cars used N 010 445 7 which is M10x45

The proper Audi bolts also have a longer shank, so they fit snugly fully against the ball joint

....and make sure it is done up properly or you get a nasty knocking noise from the suspension, and then have to replace the joint again as the pin has worn narrow(!).
