hi all just wanted to check if this is right , i have a 1991 3b coupe with cast wish bones at the front and pressed wish bones at the rear. have the rear wishbones allways been the pressed type or was there a cast rear type at one time and mine have just been replaced with a pressed type at some time. it's mot time coming up again and i need to replace the rear bushs and don't want to get any incorrect parts.
thanks dennis
never set your expectations to high that way you are never disapointed
have you measured up rear pressed wishbones and Ball joints against and forged wshbones and ball joints? They don't match up. I looked at doing this, but your geometry (set-out and rear castor angle) will be out by a lot.
On the WR and MBs the front wishbones are the same as type89 rear wishbones, so you would think they are interchangeable, but their front and rear ball joint offsets are different.

When I did it I had a pressed wishbone on the floor and then layed the cast one on top.
From memory the rear right for example uses a front Left wishbone and front left balljoint.
When on top of each other they were within a couple of mm...
You sure it was a type89 rear ball joint not a type85 front one you measured against?
You can fit the forged wishbones off a RR onto a WR or MB as the ball joint offset counters the wishbone offset compared to the symetrical wishbone and balljoint of the 10v cars.
Then compare the rear balljoint off a type 89 car against a front one off a 10v UR - its got loads more offset.
Have you got a pic side by side by any chance Brian? I'm confused!
