cast rear control arms on CQ DONE!!!!

i wanted to run cast rear control arms, but have not seen how to accomplish that. i have it figured out, at least good enough for my setup.

i used B3 front ball joints on the correct side, while flip-flopping the arms themselves from side to side; pass on driver side and driver on pass side.

so first i put on some stock arms with rubber bushings and located where it would end up. its rather far back in the well.

so now that i can figure out that with the 034 offset subframe bushings it will move the wheel forward, i take the plunge and get the bushings and also the Delrin control arm bushings.

and after i moved the subframe back forward, they are better centered in the well. still not PERFECT but fine enough for what i am doing.

so after all this, i take the rear diff mounts, redrill the holes for the front mounts and just slide the rear mount back so i do not pinch the driveline in there.

    all is well.

now for another alignment and try it out.

the issue was that on hard launches the rear ball joint body would move in the control arm, and the toe was really horrible. i would get it realigned, and then after regular driving it, the toe would go back out hard. it was frustrating to say the least. i finally just left the rear toed in a fair amount and ran it that way. the car tracked perfectly, and had no steering issues what-so-ever.... but it should be better now, with the 3 bolt ball joints in there.... i would have aligned it then welded the ball joint body to the control arm, but i do not weld cast so i just did the next thing i could.

It seems shifting the subframe is key; B2 but oh well

yeah, Derek and i have been working on this at the same time but different methods.... i even got these cast arms from him some time ago when i wanted to do this last year. and me, dumb *** that i am right now, didnt even think to just weld plates like he did, i had to go and spend all the $$$ for the aluminum ones LOL.

he only lives about 20 minutes from me. see him probably once a week if not more.

that A1 Backflow logo on my car? thats his company logo.......

Funny, I knew you guys were in the same area. The plates do make sense; I think I would sleeve the holes just cause.

he used 1/4" plate it looks like, nothing that bolt will be able to pull thru.

plus, his allows his subframe to sit higher into the car, about 3/8" or so. more ground clearance for his lowered stature and also to help bring back his geometry a little bit.
