    Suspension and bushes

    Hi folks,
I have some creaking, knocking and groaning coming from my suspension etc. The car seems to be quite boaty and if i hit any potholes the suspension seems to clunk...
I'm going to replace bushes, top mounts etc.
Is there anything else worth changing at the same time?
also am i better off getting VAG original parts or am i better getting something else.
Any advice on what to change would be appreciated.

What is the car's primary use? Road, traclk etc? That will make a difference.

If you want to replace it all with rubber then get the VAG stuff IMO.

For a more sport chassis, there are loads more options, pays your money takes your choice with them.

Ones that are worth it IMO are the wishbone bushes and uprated top mounts. Other than that it's up to you and the advice you get on here...

agree with the above but there are some basic checks for free first:

      is everything nipped up properly?

Is th spring seated in the cup and the retainer at the top, if not it makes all sorts of twanging, knocking noises
is the castle nut toqued up correctly, this can work loose making it noisy - need to remove the 22m nyloc on the top mount to find it, need a 6mm hex key to hold the damper piston firm while undoing it (at least its 6mm for a Bilstein, presume stock is probably the same)
Worn droplinks can make a racket, check their condition and also that everything is tight

When was it last aligned? Thats probably half the problem, quick thump of a pothole and its probably moved causing the rudder steering effect BTDT can be quite alarming!

      Good luck

        suspension and bushes

        Hi folks.

The car is only used for normal? road driving. The car is going into the garage next week and i've told them just to replace whatever is needed. I think VAG/OEM is probably the best option for me. I'm also looking at replacing my front brakes with some better calipers, discs and pads.

        Cheers
