    Holy clunk Batman!

Yes, just in case I'd forgotten that track driving nails motors, I now get a substantial clunk when driving along. It's most likely either a top mount or an ARB drop link. That's to go with the nailed tyre and 'warped' brakes. To add insult to injury, my BM has the same problems (clunking top mount, brakes need replacing, wheel needs replacing).

All the more reason to get on with my own top mount design as I've already tried 3 types with little success.

Brake discs don't warp , this is a myth .
The juddering you are getting after hard track or road thrashing is almost certainly caused by uneven pad material transferred to the disc , the biggest cause of this coming to a complete stop when your disks are very hot , this results in a nice pad imprint on the disk .

I'm no brake expert but I have spoke to one and I am an engineer.

For those who still believe that discs warp here is a link to an article by an expert in braking .

It was written 'warped' for a reason I know there's almost no way that I've warped a 30mm thick disc but it's a misnoma that people understand. Brake judder would have been a more accurate description of the symptom.

I'll more than likely get the discs cleaned up or even skimmed. My ebst guess is that the cause of this was a little grease on a disc after some maintanence that wasn't properly cleaned off. The problem started immediately after the work was carried out

Don't bother looking into getting the discs "skimmed" they'll be so work hardened by now you will need to get them reground which costs more than new discs

                i see.
mine is booked to have them checked with a DTS machine( i dont know what that is, as the only DTS im aware has to do with digital sound!haha) but they said that if warped, then they can skim them.

i started reading things about this on the link. Its quite interesting. i might tell them to postpone it until i replace the brake servo and master cylinder...

I have posted this several times but people still think they just by running a little hot on the track that they have managed to warp 10Kg of cast metal when they are actually just imprinting.

The standard brake bedding-in procedure will normall cure imprinting shudder, but if you truely have a vibration, look somewhere else (wheels, tyres, bearings etc)

                  Cheers n

It's the brakes. A few sessions on track didn't cure the issue so going to take it all apart and have a look.

They started to vibrate agaes ago, after replacing the lower ball joint. I'll pull them to bits and rebuild them, all the parts were new earlier in the year so it's a bit of a PITA but not too much work to rebuild the lot.

mine could well be a pump issue, but sa far as the front right disc is concerned i notice quite often that it does a rythmic squeel on low speeds. my vibration is worse on gentle brake press and if i press them harder it seems to go away to a good extend

I have a Pro Cut brake disc lathe at work, and skimming discs sorts out most complaints. ie judder, squeal, rusty or ridged.

Have a look at http://www.procuteurope.eu/ to see the lathe.

I can offer the service to anyone / any car up to 400mm dia!

Also a very good idea if you are changing the pads as the surface finish after skimming is ideal for the pads to bed in.

If I can be of help please pm me.
