    UrS6 Suspension Clunk/noise/thingy

    Afternoon All,

Ever since I have owned my S6 there has been an annoying clonk from the passenger side suspension everytime it goies over rutted roads or a pot hole.

Nothing was flagged in the recent MOT but now its getting a little annoying. Steering and damping etc all fine, does not seem to be any slack anywhere just it bangs over poor road surfaces on the passenger side.

Yes I know the ride is terrible anyway but this is more than that, almost like a suspension top mount has gone or a rubber bush has decided to fall out.

Anyone with experience or knowledge on this or is the only option to go out and buy a new RS5?

I have same kind of suspension noise on left side in front, just near the pedals(can feel it with my feet). Noise went worse when I lowered the car by 40mm.

Since the noise is only on the left side, i'm thinking exhaust or steering rack noise.

Mine is also left side without doubt, it sounds like its coming from the front but its hard to 100% say.

I need another to drive the car so I can sit on the left/ passenger seat to try and locate the noise a little better.

Update on this, had a VAG specialist look at the old girl when it was in for a service. Replaced the track rod ends but the guy reckons its the top mounts are causing the problem as they have some play in them.

Also they can be replaced from inside the engine bay without having to take off wheels and suspension so will have this done shortly.

Other things that can clunk on them.

The dampener retainer cap is not seated properly causing the dampener to bounce up and down inside the main shock body.

Rear Wishbone the main front bush thats around £150 from Audi

I get the same with my s4. Only when it's turning from slow around a junction like tesco car park!! Sounds on mine to be middle or driver side front.. I changed my ball joints totally shot maybe thought that would get rid of the noise. But hasn't. I know my cv joint needs changed could be that. But it's horrid, in mine feels like the wheel is losing traction so could be to do with tie rod which looked fine or mounts. Keep posted if anyone solves this noise.

I had an annoying clonk from the driver side, this only happened when the car was stationary and i was turning the wheels right. Turns out an engine mount had snapped!
