urs4 s6 advant rear suspension top arm bush

I changed both top arms on my car less that a year ago. These are the arms that adjust camber. They have a bush at the outer end that bolts onto the hub. Both bushes were knackered, and are knackered again. Is this common on these. Can you get updated bushes. Cheers des.

Is it Item 1 in this diagram or just one of the ends or the bushing that No. 2 goes through and is bolted with No. 8?:

For sure is nr.5 from the picture...at all my 44chassis and early a6 quattro's had the same issue....But is a balljoint...not a rubber bush...i dont think anything will work except the oem thing.

Yep part 5 that bolt 6 goes through. I need to look closer, but wouldn't a Polly bush of the correct size work. The ones I fitted came from quattro corner and were febi parts. Odd.

Pics of the problem on a old ARM. Would a nylon bush not do?

The problem with that is the movement angles...are pretty big...i think a normal rubber bush will tear apart fast.

Looking at my original ones they are twisted up but not torn and been on the car for at least 40K miles which is as long as I've had it without any problems.

Surely that arm is only supposed to move in the vertical axis? Otherwise the hub is floating around front to back in the horizontal axis

Id say replace with a custom nylon / delrin bush... or maybe draw something up that Kev aka Bambridge can make, as it sounds like common problem?

Yea, that's what I reckon, or what about a solid made spherical bearing?

Maybe something like this. I will try and measure the thread size.

Looks like m14x1.5 left hand thread. Will try and confirm tomorrow night.

And here is a suitable part. Would need a m14 bolt though, or the hole opened up to take the stock 16 mm one. Thoughts please

Even rubber covers are available to seal and protect.

With rubber boots will work ok...take care..that the end off the thread is cut in half and goes under the other joint throw that long adjusting nut....this is to maintain a specific angle between the 2...makes sense?

I think you mean make sure there is enough thread engagement and adjust length the same as original for correct camber. Yes?

I'd stay away from spherical joints on a road car, need a lot of maintenance and won't last long over rough roads
