    performance shock of choice

i'm wondering what performance shock is best suited to complement stock S2 springs? not looking for a bone-jarring ride, just something a little stiffer than stock.

Konis are a good choice, fully adjustable ones! You can then alter settings to suit your prefference.

I've got adjustable konis wih stock springs on my Avant (fitted by last owner) seem to give a nice firm ride and pretty flat cornering for such a heavy car.

Only problem is you have to get the shocks off the car to adjust them, which is completely useless as far as I am concerned. To me if they are not adjustable on the car what is the point

Will tell you what Bilstein B6's are like with H&R springs next week. They are not adjustable on or off the car but then konis as you say need to be removed which is a pain in the *** and for me would mean that I wouldn't be able to do any adjusting anyway.

I got a decent deal from a guy on ebay for these billies - normally £105 each from demon tweeks, i got 4 and 4 springs for £280. Later found out the springs were for a 90 quattro but the shocks are definately for an s2 - sold the springs last week and have 4 new H&R's sat here waiting to go on

        keep you posted,

I just put Bilsteins on mine with the standard springs. Handles great.
You can feel the road bumping around a bit more at higher speeds.

Got mine from ECP. Originally quoted £100 each + VAT, but when I went to order they had gone up by £30! Strangely it didnt take much bartering to get him back to £100.

Well, I didnt want to change the springs and to be honest I was just lazy. ECP is about 2 minutes from my front door. I would have fit standard ones from Audi but they were also £100 so I went for the bilsteins.

What I didnt tell you was that I had to buy a strut tube also as someone had change the right front for a standard one at some point in its life.

Thinking more about it, am I also right in thinking that the 3B and the ABY struts are different anyway. The ABY are larger in diameter which is why I had to get the new strut tube as it had a standard size tube so the new shock wouldnt fit.

The rears (Which I have not changed yet) look to be the standard size for all coupes on ETKA.

I could be completely wrong. Does anyone know?

                    Hi,

yeah as i posted on another thread the bilstein parts list does show two sizes of strut insert diameter s- that makes sense.
