Steering wheel too far away from you?

Probably many of you have problems with the sitting position in your car. I am almost 2m long, and i feel leike the pedals are too close. I already had to modify the rs2 recaros subrame, because i just could not sit in them, as they were way to high + i have the sunroof. I have reset the seat subframe, so it sits as back and as low as it can, but the driving position was wrong because of the steering wheel being too far.

I have cured it with a 1" spacer, used between the steering wheel and the steering wheel hub... it feels so much better, i will add another cm to it. With my (long) fingers i can still easly reach the stalks too.

    1" spacers:

using a second hub gaitor makes it look perfectly OE.

Try it, it is a great mod.

What about installing adjustable steering rack from C4 A6? A bit more difficult than fitting a spacer, but it also gives a lot more adjustment.
It's a working upgrade on C3/D11, but they are also more similiar to C4 than B4.

Rok do you think this would work with an airbag steering wheel?

No it won't work with bag wheel. I made 30mm spacer for myself and it did help indeed. It would be nice to have it even closer though, but using the turn signals & windshield washer is quite hard if there is any more spacers. The c4 adjustable column would be a nice mod, have to consider that also.

I think you will have to remove your pro-con 10 if you have it?

Yes, there's no place for procon-wire in A6 steering column.

you would need an adaptor/spacer between the steering column and the steering wheel.

that would be a challenge to make...

Hold on, you've moved the steering wheel back 2" and you can still reach the stalks!!?? You must have fingers like Gollum

I've done the same, spaced mine by 10mm and lowered the Recaro subframe. I think if I moved it back any further I'd be struggleing to reach the gearshift.

Any chance of the joint in the steering column being the same in the s2 as the adjustable ones in the a6 etc?

Dropping the seats in the b3/b4s is a great mod.

I'd like to do this on my (airbag) steering wheel too if it could be done..

How is the seat dropped with normal S2 seats?

Hi, this seems like a nice mod. Is it possible to get the spacer for the steering wheel somewhere? I don't have the means to make one myself

Not sure about your side of the pond but ProCon-Ten was not dropped until very early in the 95 model year, e.g. 9/94 build dates (or so). Therefore a C4 100 or C4 UrS4 with adjustable steering column will have the ProCon-Ten cable attachments. My 10/92 build 93 UrS4 has ProCon-Ten *AND* the adjustable steering column.

You after a type 89 hub adapter?
