i know it can get to rocket science if you are building a car that is meant to do specific things. However, the setup of the original springs + bilstein shocks for my rs2 was ideal, with the only difference being that i would have liked the car slightly lower, NOT as low as H&R springs make it.

So the use of DIY coilovers, to allow height adjustments to the above specs with slightly stiffer springs vs OEM, i would have thought it wouldnt cause too much of a change.

i know some people when doing a change think of the motorsport spec that you would want every aspect to be crucially adjusted to earn every msec of every lap, but this is not one of these cases. I hope it works out as expected

Its not just about maximising performance, you would optimise the ride quality by getting the dampers matched to the springs
From what you are describing Vas wouldn't you be better off getting the standard springs rewound?

i thought of that and before going for the DIY job, i had a spare set of coils, gave them to be shortened by heat (specialist shop) in the UK, by 15mm, that was done, and when fitted on the car, although the looks were great, the ride was awful. It was as if the car was sitting on jelly. It wobbled on all 4 corners. It was then that i was told, that lower the height, need stiffer springs by a 'X' percentage, and that is what we are going for.

Sounds to me like they ****ed the springs when they modified them, IIRC they loose about 10% of their strength when they are hot wound?

Who knows? Springs were used so maybe they had a bit of wear to begin with, even though they did measure them and had the quoted stiffness.

I will let everyone know of how this goes

today I find out what have to do make coilovers good.
              for sleeve :
there are lot of types aluminium . you must use aluminum Al Mg Si , because they are hardest , don't have cooper in side .
and they must be HARD ANODISED to make hard surface , other types of aluminum can't be hard anodised.

other part can be made from stenless steel , brass or polyurethane. don't use aluminium .
I will post pictures when will be over.
              regards

But if using B8 rather than B6 are they not made to compensate for lowering springs ?

To me it depends on how much you want to lower it. For about 10-15mm it shouldn't make a huge difference. I could be wrong

Then B8 should be fine then, they are designed for a 20mm +\-

Will this fit on my urs4?
I sopose i will need to cut the botom part where there is no thread?

Might be worth seeing if you can check what KW part number they are to cross ref on their site

What stiffness of helper spring people have used they seem to be from 4 to 150LBS/inch. Any one tried to make progressive suspension with a bit stiffer tender springs
