Rears are not the same coupe to avant, fronts are.

Whiteline don't do a FARB for an S2; you're thining of the RS2 FARB. IMO, the whiteline isn't strong enough to counter the stock S2 FARB. If it's for an avant then checck out s2avant's thread on fitting the Neuspeed item.

rusty sorry to keep pestering. is this the rear one people say about?

and then to upgrade the front is to use an RS2 one. which are by the sounds of rare as rocking horse poo. does anywhere sell them new or is it a stealer only part.
if i can only afford to change one at a time, which one will have the best response?

No worries, it's not small change, so you want to get it right.

You'll have to search s2avant's threads to get the part number he used but that description does sound right. There are also strengthening brackets available to brace the ARB brackets, these are supposed to be worth while too, as they prevent flex in the system.

If you're only going to get one bar and want the car to have more front-end grip, then get a stiffer rear bar only. the RS2 bar will make the car roll less up front and some prefer this but it will introduce more understeer than the stock bar, at the limit.

By searching for posts with 'neuspeed' in them, written by 's2avant' I found this sticky in the suspension section

It really couldn't have been easier to find

ill try track down that number, i do remember seeing it but stupidly didnt make a note of it. i phoned audi....front ARB for the RS2= £330.10. evan 6 months worth of saving cant quite let me justify that on a roll bar. but there is one in the UK if anyone wants it?!

                ill keep you updated.
                cheers once again!

If only I could find a UK manufacturer for ARBs, I've had no luck so far with anyone interested or reliable

The RS2 ARB is 1.36 times as stiff as the S2 one (d^4 relationship S2 = 26mm, RS2 = 28mm). Drilling some new holes on the OE front bar will stiffen it up a bit. It's not simple but could be tried out on a spare bar, if you're interested in DIY.

The issue is the shape of the bar; moving the holes forward will reduce the height of the bar over the driveshaft and so you'll need shorter drop links to compensate. You might get somewhere inbetween an S2 and RS2 bar with this method.

Reducing the length of the levers to 3/4 their standard length will make it an RS2 stiffness, so taking it to 7/8ths will make an inbetweeny bar.

I have a spare bar and can measure this up later on, see if there's a way to modify the OE bar to give any improvements, even a a small change will allow some adjustability, afterall, most commercially available adjustable ARBs only alter the stiffness +/- 5% or so.

There is another option that I never tried as I came across an RS2 front bar for a bargain recently, so currently running that.

If you have forged front wishbones, you can use the 26mm URq front bar with URq droplinks. It has shorter arms that the S2/RS2 item so will offer less leverage and a stiffer set-up than the S2 26mm bar - maybe rusty can do the maths to work out how much stiffer?

My hunch is it will be about the same as an RS2 front bar, Another forum member has a URq bar for me to try when i get chance to do a comparison.

This will not work with pressed wishbones.

I'm just penning a bracket to try on the stock B4 FARB, should increase stiffness by 10-15% at least.

Nice, so like a clamp onto the bar with an eye to attach the droplink to it?
