Differences between KW3 and H&R Coilovers for S2 Avants

    versus

Can people who have experience of either or both post their comments or observations ?

Just wondering about the two coilover kits for an 1995 S2 Avant on S8s for use as a daily.

Oh yeah, what about FK, GAZ or any others ?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi David. I've had H&R fully adjustable coilovers on since 2006 and never really been happy with them. The spring rating always seemed too soft and the S2 very bouncy, regardless of settings. I tried swapping the front springs to Bilstein which didn't change much. I also run 18" Avus style rims and a WhiteLine Rear Sway Bar.

I have purchased KW V3 and 2Bennett front and rear top mounts which actually go on today! I have considered the FK's but believe the KW to be of a higher quality subjectively. I have had KW V3's on a B5 S4 avant and loved them. Ride was more compliant and comparable to the Bilstein PSS9's I had on my B5 S4 sedan that cost almost twice the price!

I can give a direct (albeit subjective) comparison tomorrow, but after looking around a lot over the last few years KW V3 seem to be the pick.
    Hope That Helps
    Cheers

Sorry guys. The horizontal bar that the tierod end connects to off the right hand front strut was welded at slightly the wrong angle so it hit the inside of the tyre
It appears the horizontal arm was 7mm too far to the right at the tierod end connection point. Luckily I had a spare strut having been sent the wrong version number by KW a few months ago, (They were for an avant!) so that was measured, aligns correctly and I collect her tonight!
Just goes to show, that even German made engineering tolerences can be out sometimes too!
I'll let you know the results!
        Cheers
