    Wheel bearing fitting...problems

Just been trying to fit my wheel bearings and it's all gone pete tong...

First question, could someone please post a photo of the inner race of the front wheel bearing? I have two different ones

And also, as i pushed the hub into the rear bearing, it just pushed the inner race out of the bearing...very annoying and waste of a bearing. Whats going wrong? if you can shed any light, it would be useful!

atleast thats my 3 bits of bad luck out the way with for a while!

you need to use the right sized drifts to avoid damaging the bearing.

First press the bearing into the hub carrier using a flat faced drift that is only 1-2mm smaller than the O/D of the bearing, this way the force of the press acts across the whole bearing including the outer race which is important.

Then flip the hub carrier over, use other flat faced drift (needs to be a bit small this time to clear the lip on the inside of the hub carrier, to support the whole bearing while you press in the hub. (you don't really need a press to do this, you can use a lump hammer and a piece of timber to protect the spigot

when you press the bearing into the housing, only press on the outer race.

When you press the hub in to the bearing, the inner race must be supported. You can do it the other way by pressing the bearing down on to the hub. If you do that, press only on the inner race

Pretty sure S2 bearings are stepped - smaller diameter of the step is closest to the ABS sensor. The larger diameter step faces the outside and the hub gets pressed in to it
