    Audi 80Q B3 4cyl - 5/112 Hub Conversion

    Hi Guys,

    After about an hour and a half trawling through threads on here, audizine, motorgeeks and vwvortex I think it time to clear this up.

    I don't want to confuse the issue with talk of B2's, B4's, coupes, 90's, etc....

    Basically from what I can gather it simply comes down to this;
    - Audi A4 Quattro 1.8t B5 - front and rear hubs will fit directly onto all corners,
    - The B3 75mm front and rear bearings are the same part number and the same as B5 A4 1.8T,

    The only thing I'm not sure about is the brakes, as fitting the A4 hubs changes the offset from ET45 to ET35......

    Has anyone got any experience with this?

    Cheers,
    Leigh

    the 1.8t hubs are for the 82mm bearing AFAIK, if you have a 16v it means you have the 75mm bearings...

      I've just searched for A4 1.8t bearings and it would appear that there are different sizes some are indeed 82mm but.......

      here's a 75mm wheel bearing kit on ebay for an A4 1.8T;
      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A4-1-6-1-8...-/220411685705

      ...it appears to be for a 1995 A4 and not a quattro........

      I wonder if the hubs from an older A4 1.8T is the ones then?

        dont trust catalogs too much. the rule is 150+hp = 82mm bearing.

        checking etka would help, but again where will you find the right hubs? is till think s2 hubs are the only way. the rear hubs will also make the ET of the hub to change, which means your rear brakes are not good anymore, this means you need a4 rear brakes (calipers + disks) which again dont fit your handbrake mechanism.

          This is looking more and more like a PITA!

          I probably should just order one hub from there and size it up.........front and back then we'd know one way or another!

              I'm still planning to carry-out the 5 stud conversion, but now I'm planning on using;
              • S2 (coupe) hubs,
              • 20v quattro driveshafts,

              Will the S2 hubs fit onto my 80q (B3) struts?
              Will the driveshafts fit onto the existing gearbox and diff? or do I need a 20v gearbox, propshaft & diff?

              Any advice welcomed

                Good to hear that a4 and urs4/6 one's can be used. I knew the a4 one's can go straight onto b4 saloons/avants but didn't know the flanges can be used for coupe's/b3 saloons.

                As mentioned the hubs will bolt up to your struts, only area you might need to change is the bolt holes depending if you have 3b hubs or aby hubs, if you have later hubs you'd just need to open out the holes on the struts to accept the bigger bolts.
