    Subframes from a -92 S4 Avant to a -95 S6 Saloon

    Hi

Today I have a Audi S6 2.2t saloon from 1995 with front/rear swaybar, but I´m planning of buying the front and rear subframe from a 1992 S4 Avant so I can change all the bushings and repaint it and just do a swap. Have seen the thread on quattroworld and this is something im planning to do, in the front im just planning of changing the swaybar bushings, and the (4) subfram bushings and of course the gearbox bushings.

At the rear i was planning of replaceing the (4) subframe bushings with delrin bushings and the rest just to oem bushings (tripod, diff, swaybar, etc.)

My question to you guys is, are the front and rear subframe the same on the models if they have swaybars? or do you need to swap driveshaft carrier and all of that? My first intention was just to re-do my own subframes on the car but as I only have one vehicle its a little hard as I need my car on daily bases.

    Regards

Yes they (front and rear subframes) are the same. Or if your saloon does not have a rear sway bar, you can swap in a rear subframe that has the integral anti-sway bar brackets. If you don't already have a rear sway bar, then you will also need to drill and tap the rear wheel bearing housings to be able to bolt on the brackets that hold the end of the sway bar links.

Found this. Should be what you need. Word of advice: After I redid the front end on my 93 S4 in the summer. I took it in for a four wheel alignment. Left the car at 9AM came back at 4 PM. Car was still on the alignment rack. The left rear track control arm was seized solid and he couldn't get it to budge. He tried removing it and then hitting with a propane torch to break the rust free. Nada. I had to spring for a new track control arm (the Item 1 unit). He charged me 2 hrs for putzing with the rusted one and an hour to R&R the new one. I was too dumbfounded to argue. There is more (all bad - on his part - but that is another story)

Note: The ends of Items 2 and 5 are designed to slide over each other (they are only half shafts at that point) while the long nut is turned. Items 3 and 4 are the lock nuts.
