    Type 85 top mounts

Curious to know what the type 85 boys are using, in particular those that have gone down the 20v route and uprated the suspension to suit?

    Thanks

I found the CompBrake solid mounts purchased through QRS were just too stiff and actually spoilt the ride and handling. I have since reverted to using OEM Green mounts on the front which I find is a good setup.
Toying with the idea of going for a Mance setup, but that is fairly expensive.

I've been looking at the standard green's and blue's wondering if they will be up for the job or just go for HD stuff from Meyle but wanted feedback first.. Might have to do a trail and error job. Cheers Jogi.

I am also looking into the Manse topmounts and have an order pending...but am informed by some US chaps that he is not very well at the moment . I have his contact details if you want them, but its looking like Spring 2012 before he will be back in action according to them . Whilst they are expensive, they are lifetime guaranteed and you could always go down the Mountsaver route instead , using only OEM mounts as the base for the savers , which would cut the cost significantly . Whether they fit the Type 85 I dont know

I've been running the OE greens on my typ85. I'm running coilovers with konis and they seem to be lasting so far now after a couple of years. I've been told by a major distributor in the US that the Meyle HDs (chinese) do not hold up well.

I don't know if they are chinese or not but i still havn't had any complaints about the Meyle HD mounts (sold about 100) and lets face it what isn't made in China now

But even Mance refuses to use anything but the BOGE originals as the basis for his Pro-mounts.

BTW I have Comp Brake units on my Ur-q and find the ride to be very comfortable.
I use Eibach springs and Bilstein HDs.

indeed we only speak as we find but here in the UK we don't have a problem, seems in the states you may have fake Meyle strut tops so as you say "caveat emptor"!

I use the blue urq OEM ones both back and front in my typ 85 80 quattro together with adjustable konis and H&R springs. Works great for me.

                      Interesting....

I double checked with the distributor and it appears that I was wrong. The standard Meyle mounts are chinese. The HD line is produced in Turkey.

                      Where are yours produced, Pete?

no idea but i'm suprised that your dealer knows that info, but providing they are made to spec it does't matter it's down to quality control

Whats the difference between the green and blue mounts. Tried some supposedly uprated 034 ones and they are now trying to come up through the hole under the bonnet so looking at going back to standard ones...

The Blues are supposedly slighty uprated and therefore harder. Nor sure how much is in them though.
